Next up in our “Best of 2012” is Japanese producer Takfumi Sakurai, also known as Emufucka. Described by Redbull Music Academy (in which he will be participating this coming year) as a “true future beat wizard”, Sakurai has a knack for creating bliss injected, hyperkinetic musical concoctions, gaining him heaps of respect from the electronic music community and instrumental hip hop scene worldwide. Recently featured on Xlr8r and BBC Radio 6, his first productions were released on the Japanese label Slye. Sakurai has since then worked with many notable producers such as DZA, Coco Bryce, My Dry Wet Mess and more. He has tunes signed with Alpha Pup, ICASEA, Fremdtunes and now Loveless Records.
His “Quark/4” EP will be released in early 2013 on vinyl and digitally, featuring remixes from Submerse, Dnte, and Mmmmmm. Its gonna be a big year for Emufucka.
Our first “Best Of” list comes from Derek Janni, aka, Illegitimate Children. After releasing two EP’s this year, Janni is destined for greatness and beyond. He’s even moved into the realm of Dream Rock under the alias “Magenta Placenta”.
You can check out his sounds here; his “Technicolor Horizon” EP is due out in 2013 on Loveless.
